I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Black Friday! Personally, I avoid going near any stores on Black Friday and will continue to do so after the news reports of guns and pepper spray this year.
The weather is finally getting cold and feeling like fall/winter (as much as it does in the Big Easy). I have put up my Christmas tree, and although the ornaments are a little crowded in places and there are spots with none, instead of moving them around I have decided to leave them the way they are. Cole and Hannah did a wonderful job and put every single one on the tree themselves.
This weekend we will be putting up the Christmas Village that was my mother's. Cole is so funny and sweet because he loves to help me put it up every year.
Have a great week everyone!!!! Remember to keep Christ in Christmas!
I am changing the overview of this blog to be more positive! 2014 will be my year!!!

It's Gonna Be a Good Weekend
It's finally Friday and I don't have to wear a splint!!!
It is going to be a beautiful weekend. Tomorrow the kids and I are going to begin putting up our Christmas decorations. Usually I wait until after Thanksgiving but since we won't be having dinner at my house and they will be with their dad next weekend, they have been bugging me about it.
I am all for taking each holiday by itself, but I really need to get some more containers in the attic so Hannah can have her own room finally. As soon as it is empty I will be getting her bedroom set from my ex-in-laws.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Happy Birthday Mom
Today, my beautiful mother would have been 71 years young, but she is spending it with our Heavenly Father and all of those that have been called home. It doesn't seem like a little over 6 years since she's been gone and sometimes I still want to call her on the phone.
She was a wonderful role model and I wish I had appreciated her earlier than I did. She always put herself last, could balance a checkbook and budget to the penny. She gardened in the winter and sewed our clothes to save money. She loved it when she and my dad moved to Wisconsin because it reminded her so much of Maine.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and was friendly with everyone. Even her best friend, Lynn Simon said "she could make a best friend in a grocery line."
I love you and miss you Mom and thank you for the wonderful memories that will always be in my heart!

Stitches Out!!!
I went to the dr. yesterday and got the stitches out and am now wearing a wrist brace/splint. I can type with two hands (not so easy with the splint) but no lifting anything more than a cup of coffee or soft drink with that hand. It is progressing but the tendons and muscles are tight so it will just take time.
From being laid up for 2 weeks my metabolism is low. I fell asleep during Hawaii Five-0 last night!!!! Going to go for a walk after CCD tonight.
Tomorrow is my baby girl's birthday. Hannah will be 6 so I also have to make cupcakes for her class tonight...so much to do, hopefully that walk helps!
Have a great Tuesday!

Sick Kids
The main thing I hate about being divorced is not seeing my kids every day. Especially when they are sick.
Cole woke up Wednesday morning throwing up everywhere. After I brought Hannah to school I went to pick up some Gatorade and carpet cleaner. Poor Cole just wanted to lay down. He loooked terrible with the dark circles under his eyes. His dad came to pick him up around 10:30 and I went to work, which tore me up. Was I doing the right thing? My boss has been wonderful to me and I am already capacitated having to type one handed, so didn't want to rock the boat.
Yesterday after school I called to talk to both Cole and Hannah but Hannah was asleep. When I called around dinner time she was still sleeping. I knew something was wrong then. I called after my trip to the laundramat and Office Depot for her project supplies and she had woken up with fever, her dad gave her a cool bath and she went back to sleep. All I wanted to do was go over there and hold her.
She is currently at the dr. with my ex-MIL and tested positive for a bladder infection and they are awaiting results for kidney infection test. My poor baby. I love my kids so much!!

Not so groovy
As most of you probably know by now I am not as young as I think I am (or want to be...LOL), and I fell while skating with Hannah at a birthday party and broke my arm. I really wouldn't even call it skating....I had just put them on and was on my way to the floor....I was still on the carpet!!!!!! I have never felt such pain and I have had three kids with no epidurals!! (it worked with Cole, thank heavens because he had a huge head!)
Fortunately Hannah's BFF's mother is a nurse and two other nurses were there that helped to splint me to get me to the ER (one of the nurses drove me....thanks Christine). Hannah stayed with a friend of mine until Amanda could pick her up. Poor thing looked so scared.
Well, I broke both bones in my lower arm just above my wrist and one was displaced so they had to sedate me with propofol (yes, the Michael Jackson drug) to set my arm. I had surgery last Wednesday to have a metal plate and pins inserted. I went back to work yesterday but typing with one hand is frustrating. I go back on Monday to get my stitches out and a new splint or cast (Hannah wants pink).
I have the best friends and family who have come to my rescue!!! Amanda kept calling me the day after to check on me. Marsha came over to do my laundry. And all my sisters have been helping me, especially Lisa, my wonderful neighbor....I owe her a daiquiri!!!!
I have only seen the kids for a few hours since my "accident" since I couldn't drive and was on pain meds but I finally get them tonight and CAN'T WAIT. I really miss them. There is some irony about this that I can't talk about...lol.
Hannah's birthday is on the 9th so I am trying to figure out what we are going to do, but I can tell you...she won't be having a skating party!
